Hiking up the battery wall...beautiful homes line the other side of the street. These were the only storm clouds on the entire trip. They dumped a bunch of rain on the island before we got there, but we just had sprinkles in downtown. Lucky! |

Ben's first glimpse at the Atlantic. |

We took a carriage ride through the historic south/east part of Charleston. These are just random houses that I loved the colors or design. I got home and painted my front door aqua. |

Listen to the church bells or sermons online!
This beautiful church and graveyard (hot Benjamin did not fully appreciate the romp through the tombs) were incredible to explore. We found graves of; signers of the Constitution, a vice president & Dorothy & Dubose Heyward.
Mom and I had just read Folly Beach by Dorothea Benton Frank learning (fictionally) about them & the island. Together with, George Gershwin, they wrote the music to Porgy & Bess. I am pretty nuts for her books, which led me to learn more about Charleston & the Lowcountry.
